本日、2年間にわたり矢掛高校でALTとして勤務されていたアリス先生が最後の授業を行いました。退任式も行われ、先生は感動的な別れを告げました。アリス先生は、生徒たちに英語だけでなく、異文化理解の大切さを教えてくれました。最後にアリス先生からのメッセージです。
Hello everyone, I’m very sad that today is my last day at Yakage. I have enjoyed coming here every Friday for the last two years.
Yakage is such a special school. The community here is so proud of Yakage town and the school. I have learned so much about Japanese culture and history from the students and teachers here at Yakage.
Everyone here has made me feel so welcome, like part of a big family. I love learning about Japan and you have all been so generous in sharing your culture with me.
Thank you for learning English with me. I know it’s very hard to learn to speak another language. I’m always proud of you when you speak to me in English. I know you are sometimes nervous about making mistakes, but please don’t worry. Everyone makes mistakes, and it’s how we can learn and get better.
I want you to keep learning English. Please do your best, even though it’s difficult. English will open a lot of doors for you in the future and will give you many opportunities to learn about the world. Try and speak with any foreigners you meet to practice your English.
When the new ALT arrives, please make him feel welcome and tell him all about Yakage town and your school. I know he will be very interested to learn all about it.
You are all such smart and funny and creative students, I know that if you work hard you can achieve your dreams.
